New initiative organizes home stays for 2010

Are you a homeowner with a room or suite to rent to visitors during the 2010 Winter and Paralympic Games? We can help you earn rental income — and support a good cause. Home For The Games is an innovative service facilitating home stays and rentals while raising funds to help Vancouver's most vulnerable citizens.
Home For The Games is a new society that aims to provide reasonably priced accommodations for 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games visitors, with at least half of the rental fee dedicated to charities fighting homelessness in Vancouver.
We're looking for 1,000 home stay accommodations during the Olympic (February 12 to 28) and Paralympic (March 12 to 21) Games and we’re now registering home stay accommodations online from homeowners in Metro Vancouver.
By participating with Home For The Games, you'll gain access to a large market of Olympic visitors looking for accommodation. Opening your home to a visitor is a great opportunity to make new friends, learn about other cultures and extend your hospitality. You’ll earn modest income and receive a tax receipt for the portion of rent that goes to charity. You can also take pride in knowing you’re raising money for a good cause.
It's free to register with Home For The Games. But under our system, at least half of your rental fee will go directly to our charity partners, Covenant House Vancouver and Streetohome Foundation. That's right. We're using the energy of the Olympics and the generosity of homeowners to help fight homelessness in Metro Vancouver.
